Your Voice Can Make a Difference for Children and Families

Oct 30 2014 16:46

vote On November 4, 2014, Mainers will have the opportunity to elect a U.S. Senator, members of Congress, a governor, state senators and other state officials. ( Click here to find out who is on the ballot in your city/town.) Because children can’t vote, they must rely on adults in their communities to advocate on their behalf. Pledge to vote for kids! Your vote can affect the kinds and numbers and quality of services and programs available to our families, like
  • High quality early care and education opportunities,
  • Health insurance,
  • Free school lunches and other nutritional programs,
  • Summer programs,
  • After-school programs, and more!
If you believe that
  • All children should have the economic necessities of life
  • All children should be able to attend high quality early learning programs
  • All children deserve a world class education
  • All children should have enough to eat
  • All children should have a safe, supervised place to learn and play after school while their parents are at work
  • All children should have access to health care
  • All children should be safe from violence at home and in their communities
THEN YOU NEED TO VOTE THIS NOVEMBER 4TH. To know your polling place, who is on your ballot, and more, visit the Maine Secretary of State’s Voter Information web page. After the votes are counted, together we need to hold our elected officials accountable for their performance on behalf of kids.
