At Maine Children’s Alliance, we believe every child deserves to grow up safe, healthy, and free from the threat of violence. Gun violence is now one of the leading causes of death for children in the United States, and its impact reaches far beyond statistics, it shapes the daily lives, fears, and futures of Maine’s children and families.
We recognize that preventing gun violence is essential to ensuring the wellbeing of all children. This requires not only evidence-based policies that reduce access to firearms in dangerous situations, but also investments in mental health supports, community-based prevention strategies, and safe environments where children can thrive.
Maine Children’s Alliance stands with partners, families, and communities in calling for action to address the root causes of gun violence and to build a future where children can learn, play, and grow without fear.
