[caption id="attachment_1163" align="alignright" width="300"]Register for the Maine Children's Convention![/caption] The Maine Children's Alliance is excited to announce that we are embarking on a three-year project to improve the quality of early learning experiences for all Maine children. Through the generous support of Maine's Early Childhood Funders group, MCA is partnering with several other children's advocacy organizations in a collaborative effort to focus on the comprehensive systems that impact early learning programs. As we all know, the early years play critical role in a future brain development. High quality, early care and education programs ensure parents can go to work confident in their child's care and children can show up to school ready to learn. Unfortunately, we have seen Maine's early childhood system experience a significant decline over the past decade. For many years Maine's early childhood system served as a national model but now we find ourselves falling behind in our ability to serve Maine's children and families well. So, now it is up to all of us to work together and reverse this trend.
If we want children and families to succeed in a new economy, we need a comprehensive early care and education system that includes an integrated continuum of policies, investments, programs and services within and across early learning, family engagement, and health.
MCA is thrilled to partner with Maine’s Council for a Strong America , the Maine Head Start Association, MaineAEYC , the Maine Association of Community Action Agencies , and the Maine YMCAs to launch this initiative. First, however, this effort begins with you. We want to hear from those of you in the field who are working in our communities every day with children and families. Our Second Maine Children’s Convention will bring together those who are passionate about creating an early childhood system in Maine that can make a difference in the lives of children and families. Don't miss out - register today !

We hope you can join us on Saturday, November 5 at the Augusta Civic Center!
