#ProtectOurCare: Senate to release new health care bill this week. Call Senator Collins today!

Jun 21 2017 21:23

The U.S. Senate is set to release their secret health care bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act as early as tomorrow. While Maine’s Senators have been virtually shut out of the drafting process, reports indicate that much like the House Health Care Bill, the Senate version would be devastating for Maine children, families, Mainers with disabilities, and seniors.

Please call Senator Collins today and tell her to oppose any bill that:

  • guts funding to MaineCare, Maine’s Medicaid program;
  • eliminates federal oversight of Medicaid dollars that guarantee children from low-income households, seniors and people with disabilities get the care they need;
  • and increases the number of children and families in Maine without health care coverage.
MaineCare provides vital coverage for children—including those with special needs — who otherwise wouldn’t be able to get the care they need to grow and thrive. It also helps seniors stay in their homes and covers people with disabilities so they can afford their care. Take a moment and reach out to Senator Collins today. In Maine, over 130,000 children and families rely on MaineCare for health care coverage. And new research shows that MaineCare covers children and families living in more rural parts of the state than non-rural folks. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to reach out to Senator Collins. The more phone calls we make together, the bigger the impact we have.
