A Voice for Maine Kids!

The Maine Children’s Alliance (MCA) is committed to improving the lives of Maine’s children, youth and families.

Since 1994, MCA has provided non-partisan leadership by promoting and advocating for sound public policies that benefit Maine’s children.  A resource for our partners and policy-makers, we provide comprehensive data and information about the status and well-being of Maine’s children.  We contribute to positive change by collaborating with partners at the state, regional and national level. Please join us and support MCA today. Your support will help us continue to improve the lives of Maine children and their families.

Public investments reduce child poverty rate

A new report released today by the Annie E. Casey Foundation shows that the federal government’s official poverty measure created in the 1960s uses outdated information on how U.S. families are faring today, failing to illustrate the effect of programs designed to help them. The new KIDS COUNT® Data Snapshot, Measuring Access to Opportunity in the United States, points to a better index for measuring poverty – the Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM) – which captures the effect of public investments and tax policies on children and families.

MCA Legislative Reception Rescheduled

MCA's Legislative Reception at the Senator Inn has been rescheduled for March 3rd from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. We welcome the opportunity to discuss the potential for good public policy to close the gap between what we know children need for health and well-being and what we do to ensure it.
