Alan Cartwright
Alan Cartwright is General Manager of WGME 13, the Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned CBS affiliate in Portland, Maine. One of Alan's first initiatives upon joining the station in June, 1999, was the creation of WGME 13's Giving Maine Promise campaign.
WGME 13's Giving Maine Promise campaign is a commitment to make Maine an even better place to call home… and it is a commitment to help point kids in the right direction. More than 70% of WGME 13's public service time is committed to Giving Maine Promise, and is comprised of WGME News 13 franchises, vignettes, events, and long-form programming.
Among the achievements of WGME 13's Giving Maine Promise Campaign is the pairing of more than 500 volunteers to act as caring adults … mentors for Maine children.
Alan has more than thirty-five years of broad-based television experience, in Ohio, New York, Louisiana, and Portland, Maine. He has also served as Director of Development for the Maine Children's Alliance.
Alan has lived and worked in Maine since January of 1996 and currently resides in Saco. He is a member of the Woodlands, the Portland Rotary, the board of the Maine Children's Alliance, and the board of the Southern Maine Area Agency on Aging.
Last year, Alan was appointed co-chair of the Maine Mentoring Partnership by Governor Angus King. He has been recently nominated for a National Points of Light and has won numerous industry awards for service to communities served through television.
Alan is a native of Ohio, and is a graduate of Kent State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications.
