Online KIDS COUNT Databases

The Annie E. Casey Foundation has an extensive KIDS COUNT website where you can link to a variety of online KIDS COUNT databases and learn about the national network of state KIDS COUNT projects. If you prefer, you can link directly to these databases by clicking on the links below.

The Community-Level Information on Kids or CLIKS Online Database is maintained by each state KIDS COUNT grantee and provides community-level information for that state. Maine CLIKS provides county-level data on a number of the indicators from the Maine KIDS COUNT data book as well as some additional indictors. These indicators can be displayed in a number of report formats, including:

1. Profiles – detailed information about Maine or any Maine county,


2. Graphs – indicators graphed over time for one or more Maine counties,


3. Maps – color-coded maps of Maine counties for selected indicators,


4. Rankings – all of the counties within Maine ranked according to an indicator, and


5. Raw Data – delimited text files containing Maine CLIKS data for your own offline use.

The State-Level Data Online Database , maintained by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, provides data on indicators of child well-being at the state-level. There are 98 indicators, including the 10 indicators regularly used in the national KIDS COUNT Data Book. Some of the other indicator categories include: education, employment and income, health, health insurance, poverty, population and family characteristics, and youth risk factors. These indicators can be displayed in number of report formats, including:

1. Profiles – detailed information about states,


2. Graphs – indicators graphed over time for states,


3. Maps – color-coded maps of states for selected indicators,


4. Rankings – states ranked according to an indicator, and


5. Raw Data – delimited text files containing raw state data for your own offline use.

The Census Data Online Database, maintained by the Anne E. Casey Foundation, provides data on indicators of child well-being released by the 2000 U.S. Census. Indicators for Maine can be viewed by geographic areas that include: the state, counties, American Indian/Alaska/Native Hawaiian Home Lands, Primary Metropolitan Statistical Areas, congressional districts (for the 108th Congress), state legislative districts, and New England towns. These indicators can be displayed in a number of report formats, including:

1. Profiles – detailed information about geographic locations,


2. Rankings – geographic locations ranked according to an indicator, and


3. Raw Data – delimited text files containing raw data for any or all available regions for your own offline use.
