The Maine Children's Alliance is a strong, powerful voice for children, youth and families and provides leadership to create or change policy on their behalf. The Maine Children's Alliance collects the voices and data of various organizations, develops, promotes and advocates a substantive strategic plan including desired outcomes to insure positive change for children and their families.
MCA is the preeminent source of information on issues concerning children. MCA aggressively collects and proactively utilizes information to generate positive change for children and families.
MCA is an advocate, a constant presence in state policy arenas as well as a resource at the local and national levels, presenting an assertive, clear and influential position on children's issues.
MCA is a strong organization in its own right whose membership includes individuals, businesses and organizations whose goal is to support the children's agenda both financially and with advocacy. These members will provide input and information and increase the voice of the organization.
MCA builds strength through its alliance by leading various organizations whose goal is to work on behalf of children. MCA is a convener, bringing groups together over specific issues; a creator of coalitions and alliances; and a catalyst to implementing forums at the local or regional level.
MCA is supported by varied and stable funding sources including events, grants, membership, corporate donors, and an endowment fund. It has a base budget that is sufficient to meet the needs of a growing organization, as well as a reserve to meet the needs of additional special projects.
MCA staff consists of highly professional individuals and other outside resources created through its many strategic alliances. To insure an accurate understanding of duties and accountabilities, as well as individual growth and job satisfaction, job descriptions and a performance evaluation system are in place. MCA utilizes modern technology and equipment to meet the changing environment of information processing.
MCA Board Members are engaged in having dynamic discussions on how to help children, youth and families, setting policy direction of the organization, serving on committees, as well as advocating and sharing expertise when called on.
